Thanks Sensei, I saw that in your red book but wasn't sure that it was still done the same way. I hope to see you again at one camp or another. :D

Technical question on Konshiwa

What is the standard foot position on the first movement of Konshiwa?

I have seen this 2 ways, one is from neutral stance, stepping out with the right foot, then pivoting into a left sanchin. The way I was originally taught, it was pivoting on the left foot from neutral immediately into a left ...

Tony,

When were you here? Our summers can be sweltering. We have the air conditioner on here now.

Explain this to me ladies

Raffi,

I wish I had some answers for you on this. It must be very hard to see something like that and feel helpless. If only there was something you could do. But apart from trying to talk to her, there is nothing you or anyone else can do. This woman must make her own decisions.

Beating up her ...

Humbling moments

Lori-San,

I was inspired by your post in Van Sensei's forum, I think it was paper tigers, when you discussed your experience with the "big chi stick".

I had a similar experience when my preconceptions were shaken, and thought it might make a good thread, as I'm certain everyone has had these ...

Do you get upset when you see the stereotypes?

Hello All,

I haven't been around these forums for a while, wow, have I been missing out.
I felt the need to defend some of these "cardio kickboxing instructors".

I know a few of these instructors, just casually though, so I have not had any influence on their opinions. And the few times I have ...

Stand By Your Man

Well this question has the wheels turning...
My husband does not study any martial art, and never has. He has only gotten himself in a few hockey fights, when he was a teenager, nothing serious.

1)Okay, so he's getting thrashed? Well, I know he can take it since he thrashes himself regularly on his ...

A little story of Christmas

Hello Lori-San

I just stopped in to see what was going on here and around GEM's site.

I'm glad I did, that story illustrates just how special you are.

Happy Holidays to All.

The 'Waiver' - How to Respond

Hi Rich-

Do you have my email? Send me your fax number via email, I have some forms for you to look at.

As a fitness and weight room instructor, we have people fill out a brief medical form called a PAR-Q. If they answer yes to any of the few questions, we give them an attachment to take to their ...

What they REALLY are like

I just wanted to add a note about the estrogen injection these forums have recently received.

I'm glad to see that more smart and strong women are posting their thoughts and opinions, and not just on Lori's forum. Welcome, and keep it up.

What they REALLY are like

To Bill Sensei,

Sorry to change the subject (just helping you out here), but I noticed above that you mentioned your wife is/was a competitive bodybuilder.

I have lifted for years, and am thinking about competiting. Do you think I could contact your wife and pick her brain about pre-contest diets ...

A Trip to Japan

I have a friend in South Korea who is there teaching English in college. He says that there are many opportunities to tutor on the side as well. He has been there for a few years, and has married a Korean woman, and they just had a beautiful little girl.
I can't wait to visit them in October, I'm ...

Don't forget your cooler for cold beverages in your room, and a musical instrument if you play one!

You guys must have been waiting for a Canadian to post those things.

I have often wondered why some men choose to treat women so disrespectfully, surely it is not to increase their chances to meet women.

When this happens to me, I usually just console myself with the thought that these men are just trying to bond with each other, and that they must be ...

Siu-San

WOW!

Welcome to this forum!

A few of the ideas you wrote about were swirling around in my head, but you wrote them so much better than I could have.

I am as tall as the average sized man, 5'10", although I am much lighter than most men that size. I have been following this thread, and ...
