"Stress is linked to over 75% to 90% of known diseases"

Perhaps it's mainly because stress can cause bad habits.

Stressed people has a greater chance of getting addicted to smoking to self-medicate themselves in an attempt to calm down. I've known at least two single moms and a man in pressure ...

Re: Intimidation vs Throwing Sand

One episode of National Geographics doomsday prepper TV series had someone spaying mace on the face of a tough man volunteer to see how effective it can stop him. The fleeing guy still got tagged. It may be more effective if trying to escape on rough surfaces.

"I have often wondered just how long Kanbum Uechi spent in China, or even if he had been to China at all."

Kanbum doesn't need to travel at all to be influenced by Chinese culture. Many Chinese traveled or immigrated to Okinawa before or during his lifetime.

Chinese people are also known to have ...

Karate for Mental Health: How Martial Arts Combat Stress and Anxiety?

By Jacob William

Stress and anxiety do not always scream. They creep in quietly while turning everyday life into a battlefield. But you cannot fight every battle with words and medications. Some are fought barefoot on the smooth floors of Karate. This martial art is usually seen just as self ...

Black Flag Martial Arts

I occasionally hear about the Black Flag martial arts during the daily morning exercise classes and gotten curious about it. To me, the name brought up memories of Black Flag, a gritty, stark, violent, and American hardcore punk rock band my high school peers love. During wars or piracy, a black ...

Exercise Comparisons

I monitored several forms of exercises using my Apple Watch and thought to make some comparisons.

Indoor run is my favorite for data science. It has the most detailed statistics including average steps per minute, distance, average pace, average heart rate, heart rate zone, and more. Being a data ...

Today's society is way too competitive. Overuse and repetitive motion injuries can be caused by repetitively moving a part of your body ...

Re: Want Advice on Improving My Uechi-Ryu Kata Performance

Good, smooth acceleration in strikes are important, as well as no pauses. The entire kata should be a continuous motion from start to finish. I can't tell what makes the best form because everyone's body is different; each pose may work great in some body type, but not in other. Age can be a factor ...

If they added references to solid resources, the Reddit posts will be more believable. It goes to show the importance of peer reviews.

Re: Kihon Meaning

Many games mentioning Kihon are not relevant to the Uechi-Ryu forum. Google Play has Kihon, a fitness app. Apples App store doesn't have it. Since I don't own an android phone, I can't give you any reviews.
