Re: Ted Kresge Deja Vu

Very nice! His change to religion from Martial Arts was done openly in 1980, although he may have heading in that direction privately for some time before that.

He is still living in St. Petersburg Florida and continues to put up a nearly record breaking Christmas Light display at his home every ...

Re: Kresge Konnections

Sensei Ted was alleged to eat mostly Coca Cola and Twinkies. When he smiled at me at one of his extremely rare visits to the Weymouth Dojo, his teeth's appearance gave some credence to this bit of lore.

maybe it isn't a cigar at all?

it may simply be that motion is motion.

Teaching a student a motion, correcting their form until they get it right, developing the muscle memory to both strengthen and turn the motion into second nature go a long way.

Maybe it would introduce confusion if that motion is described as anything ...

Great! Thanks for the information. I'll look into it.

The perception of time as it pertains to different events is interesting. For some, time seems to slow down in life and death situations. I saw an interview with a boy who'd been attacked by a shark, he said things got quiet and time stood ...

Is it just me or is time accelerating?

As I get older, it seems like time is flying by and in passing discussions, I'm not the only one with that perception. I have a theory that the older you get, the more memories you have behind you to draw on, therefore making time seem as if it has passed more rapidly. Depending on the type of ...

Thank you Sir.

I continued to train for 12 more years or so but haven't in a long time. Many life changes, several surgeries, and just growing older in general, I left it behind me.

There was a time when I was living in North Carolina I trained with a Korean school across from where I was living ...

I did not know them all by any stretch, but I can name a few:

Tim Kelly (Tim was a classic stylist, tall, thin, intense, & intelligent).

Jay Thomas (Jay was a tank!, short & stocky, solid as a rock)

Don Quinte (Don was a wonderful person, I'd heard he was robbed at gunpoint sometime in the ...

Re: Ted Kresge

I remember seeing some of his classes which he took out of the gym and into an outside quadrangle between the Social Arts, Science, Library and Cafeteria/Bookstore buildings. He introduced hundreds if not thousands of students in those years to Sanchin, Junebe undo and Hojo undo. Many continued ...
