To all Summerfest attendees,
Anyone who is coming in on Thursday (or before) summercamp is more than welcome to come by on Thursday during the day or even in the evening to work out at my academy. I know many of you have already made travel arrangements, but for those who haven't, the door to Derderian Academy of Martial Arts is open for a generic type of training.
I hope some of you come by to say hello and work out with my group.
Raf

Mike:
What do you mean "not coming to camp"????
Guess I'll have to re-introduce the "hard" Sanchin check next time I'm in Chicago!

Once again Raffi has a great idea!
I would also like to offer my dojo for anyone, staying in or passing though the Brockton Area, that would like to attend any class the week before or the week after the Summerfest Camp.
Directions and schedule can be found at BUKA Website

I regret that I will not be able to attend summer camp, this year. In the event I could, this would be an opportunity I would not miss . Raffi has /is one of the most open minded teachers I've had the pleasure to train under. I would strongly suggest , any one who could go, do so . You'll have a great experence . Once Again my 2 cents.

Raffi: Are you planing a kill shot match again this year? I'm still working on my schedule to make it but things are looking up!
Now, how do I get an M1 through MD, NJ, NY... to MA without getting tossed in jail or shot by a NJ State Trooper?

The M-1 Garand, eh Rich? Tough to leave it behind. Best rifle in the world. The rifleman's rifle.

Hi Van. Yes, that would be adequate. The federal laws allow me to transport firearms through any state to my destination. And, except in CA, the M1 in not classified as an assualt weapon. However, MD and NJ State Police are not very friendly to out of staters and MD has banned all assault weapons and my fate could be determined by whatever the locals feel like at the time.
Actually, I'm such a god fearing person I have only been stopped for speeding once in my life and that was 23 years ago. And even though I do travel through MD and NJ on the interstates I have never had a problem. So, I probably worry for nothing.

Rich,
I do hope you are able to make camp, it wouldn't be the same without you.
As far as the killshot goes, if Sensei wants it, I'll do it. However, I don't want to drag all of the gear to camp and wind up begging people to do it. Last year, we didn't have enough and there were some real troopers who never held a stick before in the Killshot. They did this just so we could have the tournament so I am grateful. I would prefer to have more experienced competitors though.

Raffi:
I thought the "killshot" tourney was very interesting and well-received last year. I think we can get enough interest in it to warrent another tournament this year.

Okay, I guess we will have another killshot. I may modify the rules to make it more interesting.
I can bring 4 sets of gear. If anyone has their own, it will make it easier. Last year, we wasted way too much time waiting for everyone to change into the gear. It's no ones fault, sometimes the matches end before the next guys have the stuff on. I'd like to avoid that if at all possible.
Anyone who wants to compete should email me privately or here. I'd like at least 8 people to make it happen.

Must be licensed at point of origin and point of destination. Can transport through "in-between" states as long as the firearm is unloaded and locked in an inaccessable to the passenger compartment area. (Either a locked case OR securely locked in the trunk) Some people will argue that if it is not in a locked case when in the trunk (that's really a double redundancy) that it must have a "trigger-lock".
If you are licensed at both ends of the trip, then put it in a case (unloaded and lock the case) and then put the case in your trunk... And fercryinoutloud, don't speed! (you're carrying a gun fergoodnessake!
