Pearl Harbor

Post by STUDD WILSON »

Guys, I usually take what movie critics say with a grain of salt, especially after films like "The Truman Show (they told me it was good). But it seems like they're all blasting this one. Is it just me or can Hollywood not make a good movie anymore. Am I the only one in America whos tired of politically motivated films with overblown, special effects and sh!tty acting? Lets face it, 90's style movie making has long run its course.

No, it's not just you.

Saving Private Ryan was, perhaps, an exception-if we stay with the War Movie Genre.

"Enemy at the Gates", although not as powerful as "The War of the Rats" upon which the story was based, was OK.

I haven't seen the movie yet. I could care less what most critics say. However, what has delayed me from wanting to see this movie was a love story thrown into a war movie. Especially when it's about Pearl Harbor. I'm sure the special effects are great though. Hoever, I like my Pearl Harbor movies, or war movies about actual events, to more fact based than story stretched. I've heard of some inaccuracies in this movie to convey the story line.

For the hell of it, my all time favorite war movies are...

Battle of the Bulge
Patton
Boys in Company C
The Longest Day
Pork Chop Hill

Scott,

Don't forget:

Full Metal Jacket
Platoon
Devil's Brigade
The Great Escape

John,

I haven't seen Pearl Harbot, but I don't know if I can stand the "Love Story" ruining my "history." That's the same reason why I didn't see Titantic. But I did like Enemy at the Gate." It showed Stalingrad pretty much the way it was in 1942.

Well, the only really "tough issue" I see here is whether to go see "Pearl Harbor - the Movie" or go back and watch "tora, tora, tora!" again...

I've just seen so much Pearl Harbor on the History Channel I don't think I need to see the movie now.
