Know what Reg? You got the point I was going for. I was thinking before that it was kind of wrong to "add" that kind of training- that it was an attempt to change Uechi-Ryu. I don't anymore. I completely see the value of it, and am trying to come up with drills that will help that feeling. "Tis good ideas all around- and I won't go get into a fight that's for sure- had enough of that position.

Was watching a really scarey movie where they had a situation like has been discussed in other threads- A bar-room "brawl" where big tough guy is telling the "freak " of the town "c'mon wanna piece of me?"- it was cool to sit and go over what information has been put in the threads and apply it to the movie- what I would do etc. etc.

It also helped me to see that if you as as person- take your training- in such a manner that- you can train and have fun- but won't ever get into enough trouble to have to take it seriously- then your training won't "be" serious. I want to be serious as well as have fun. But training for defense - and training to take an "offensive" - defensive position is pretty important and not something to be taken/done lightly. Or taken for granted.

Really good learning point for me. Not that I wasn't serious before- but maybe getting a little "cocky" so to speak. (me? a little 5ft 2 person! HA! but it was there :) LOL

Thanks for all the input!

Hi Kerry,

My first teacher used to say 90% of fighting is in your head.
Boy did he know something.

His Japanese teacher told him if you want to win all street fights get a gun.

The toughest guy I've ever met is a Gangster. An English equivelent of your John Gotti say.

He is 5 foot 2 also.

Take care

My Sensei says something very similar- Mind, 33 n a third % - body 33.n third spirit 33 n. third

two of those thing you can't even see. :) (less you crack your skull open n then it's only the "holding cell" so to speak.... :)

:)
