And not all who do uechi ryu do it the same. And no style is superior to another, and it's not the style but the person that wins a confrontation. And all who use uechi follow the same BASIC rules so it also has that.

Sanchin in many schools is an exercise, teaching a basic stance, concentration, a strong body, good peripheral vision and a basic stance/position to come back into while in a fight.

And the mandatory uechi ***** jab from our friend from the UK.

I have always enjoyed sanchin ,when teaching a new student all the workout is devoted to sanchin ,its not a chore ,if someone attempts to knock that student away from sanchin via undermining self doubt etc, my job is to inspire, again I enjoy this ,its impossible to put me off .

It all comes with not being distracted from ones aim, this feeling and attitude came to me very early in my own study of uechi-ryu,and to pin this attitude down ,it was during nothing but sanchin workouts ,every mortal second of the workout devoted to sanchin ,even when taking a mini ,inwork break .My point being the intent and interest had not subsided one halfpenny .

And this attitude is transferable with extra thought and practice ,to anything you wish to do ,its very positive its holistic ,its very very healthy .
Sanchin is holistic in many ways ,a major one being it works right and left hemisheres of the brain ,it promotes symetrical development ,this fact alone is fantastic ,were the bulk of mankind is very heavy left brained ,for this alone I would advice most folk to seek out and get involved in sanchin practice .

Further more you don't have to kill your self to feel the benifits of this in sanchin practice ,sanchin does not always have to be intense ,as all the seniors know without my posts .
Sanchin is a exercise if you want just that ,I get black belts from other styles who are sold on the idea that its the strength kata ,they come regardless of idea what it is ,but when they come ,all the workout is sanchin .
