Themes in bridge kata?

I was under the impression that the shokens were removed because white belts performing the bunkai lacked the conditioning to take a shoken strike. (Not sure how I arrived at this conclusion)

I teach and perform the kata and bunkai with shokens, we just go real light until the conditioning is up to snuff.
