Partial Box of the Reds
Bill acknowledged:
2. Change the stacking order occassionally.
3. Find some acid free paper and wrap each book individually.
4. Store in a cool, dry environment. Avoid natural light or any light that could cause a fade. Red covers are "sensitive."
5. At $125.00 and up per copy you have a private IRA going for you or nice contribution to a college fund
1. Check your storage. Make sure the books aren't sharing space with silverfish, roaches, spiders or mice and other critters.FWIW... I have a partial box of the reds. I'm not yet sure what I'm going to do with them.

On the cloth cover of The Way of Karate ... Fred said the kanji were in silver and in gold. Does anyone know if gold was first and then silver or was it vice versa?
Are the endpapers always green?
I have a brown maybe gold 2nd printing of Uechiryu Karate do. This was 1983. The black belt list has been replaced by the 1983 Hall of Fame photo.
Could someone scan the blackbelt list? I for one would find brief bios of those Uechi pioneers a very interesting thread.
Are these all Uechi Shodans or only North American?
The same for the 1983 photo. There's one row of Okinawan masters (except for GEM in the middle)
One woman. Canada, California, Bermuda, many New England states represented. One Godan name Van Canna
Some data on these early accomplished Uechi karateka would be helpful to many of us in getting an historical update to North American Uechi Ryu. For a few others it would be a nostalgic perambulation down memory lane

The 1974 edition of that book has been reprinted several times. The 2nd printing was in 1983, 3rd printing in 1989, a fifth in 1992, and so on...
But in the book trade, it is still considered to be the 1974 edition.

1st Printing
I got a first printing of THE WAY OF KARATE which has the kanji in gold and the title on the spine, THE WAY OF KARATE, in silver.
Is this what Fred ment or did he mean both the kanji and the title were in silver?
Another copy has both the title on the spine and the kanji in gold.
The dust jacket is blank on the back cover portion.
By 1983, the 20th printing, the back cover portion of the dust jacket has book review blurbs and the back fold lists Tuttle publications.
The gold has been eliminated from the cloth cover, no kanji, and the title on the spine is in gold.
I think publications like the Library Journal and Book Review Index can point to full reviews of the book, a compilation of which after multiple printings and editions over a 40 year period could make a book in itself
Are there foreign language editions of The Way of Karate?

John,
I just noticed one of mine had silver and one gold.
I haven't really looked into it that close.
But reseach it if you like!
Sensei Mattson told me some had a green "grass like" cloth.
That is my Holy Grail right now.
But now that they are rising on E-bay I'll probably not buy another.
