>>Most serious martial artists now accept that solo forms were conceived by Buddhist and Taoist monks and nuns from the original (pre 1644) Shaolin Temple. This is the reason for the similarities.<<

Who are these "serious martial artists?" What are their sources? I am curious.

David,

Look no further, all the esoteric secrets of the origins of all the kata are revealed to you in the marvellous book The Bodhisattva Warriors written by the one and only authority on the Buddhist Martial Arts, Shifu Nagabozo.

If reading this well-researched book leaves you with questions and doubts (which would surprise me because the author is sooo knowledgeable and is a Buddhist priest as well) then have a look at the following website to find the real origins of the Buddhist kata.

gassho etc., Bod

I am interested in martial arts and have an interest in Buddhism. I have picked up the Bodhisattva Warrior several times and thumbed through it. For whatever reasons, it just doesn't catch me.

There are many paths. We pick up the one we feel right. As Buddha said, "Be a lamp unto oneself."

Good luck on your journey.

As J.D. stated, Bod's tongue is firmly planted in cheek. He is being flip, but there is a reason for his madness.

If Terry et al wishes to continue this discussion (and I encourage you to do so), you should probably start a new thread. This one is reaching the limits of some computers to properly download, and a thread of more than 39 posts starts to page.
