Making some changes in the Internet Explorer's Internet Options' tabbed dialogue box, and unpleasantly saw how tightly MS is wound to itself.
Of particular distaste is the programs tab. Looks like one can make a lot of selections. As long as it is a Microsoft product, one can. Of course there has to be a back-door into this thing, but not tonight.

Allen,
I have NO M$ programs in "Programs" tab
Granted notepad is M$ but it's ok

HTML Editor Notepad
E-mail is Agent
News is Agent
Internet call is blank
Calender is blank
Contact list is blank
Depends on what programs you install and how they register in the registery.

Hi Chuck.
I didn't think anyone was monitoring this forum anymore...
Thanks. Problem is, whatever is set up can't be changed in IE. The only back door may be to muck with the registry.
Interesting that when you write to the registry using either VB or VC, you make the same function calls because you are using Win32 and not language dependant methods and functions.

Allen,
What do you mean what ever is set can't be changed? On my server i have Outlook 2000 and Agent and those are my only choices in the programs tab for mail, news, and Calender. I installed Ultra Edit-32 and that is my HTML editor.
Agreed it's weird how the reg. does and doesn't work. Screw up or delete one simple key and that's it you reinstall the whole OS.
