Just received this Hot Internet Scam in my mailbox. Check it out and watch out:

of the fact that we have not met before and because of the nature of the
business I am about to introduce, I want to remain positive having the faith
and the will and convincing myself that you will be capable to do business

I am extending this proposal to you in my capacity as the chief Auditor of
the Review/Audit committee scrutinizing all records covering executed
contracts awarded by the previous Military Government of Nigeria. My
colleagues and I have uncovered a floating amount of US$30 Million without
any beneficiary owing to a deliberate act of over-invoicing and illegal
inflation of contract value by some ex-Government officials who are now
retired.

Wow, what a great deal Allen!! Wonder how they got your name????

I've been trying to get of some of the spam mailing lists by responding with "remove" to their messages. Most get bounced back as undeliverable. Any suggestions how to stop some of this unwanted mail?

ISP's need to establish server based filtering systems for individual accounts. In this way, mail like this is nuked at the server level and never makes it to your computer.

If I don't know the sender, I don't even read it. I have placed many a block or message rule from the usual stupid titles.

This is a well-known scam in International Business circles and has been running for nearly 20 years. It always involves an African country and they perps usually ask for your IBA routing numbers. This gives them total access to your bank account, which they promptly debit to a zero balance. The scary thing is that it must work - it's lasted this long!

I vaguely remember something on 20/20 a few years back about something similar, but not internet-wise. Bet this outfit spammed thousands of places last night with this scam?

And there will be those who get sucked right into the intake.

much of my email, 25% to 50% or more sometimes is often junk advertisements. I filter-out the repeat stuff through my emailer, however much comes in these days with hashed email addresses.


This one is pure fraud, and I posted it this way to warn-away those who would bite at such an advertisement. And there are some who will.
