I have been working with embedded format (with popup) for the video page for those who wish not to use windows media player. (Bloody wankers Image)

This test module is using the ISDN version I created. About 80 kps. Now that I am using cable I can't test 56k modem versions properly. This version is a medium. I believe though it will work for modem users only they will have to wait until it buffers. This should be an actual benefit on a Unix system though. When I was modeming the old way, I couldn't even access greater than 56k versions from NT servers.

Any and all comments would be a big help.

If I go this way it may mean a major redesign for the video site. I may just do something seperate. Or maybe special links from the forums. I have been spending so much time online lately, I haven't even done a kata in two weeks. (Damn Napster & cable modems Image) I also don't relish redesigning the video site. I kinda like the way it is now. Maybe NEW videos will get the embed version from the What's New page on the video site.

UPDATE NEWS: You may have noticed the counter and guestbook isn't working right now on the video site. That's because NBCi *****! Ever since they took over XOOM.COM they redesigned the guestbook and I can't access the private messages nor change anything (When it does work). They gave me a typical BS reply. So I will be putting up new cgi's for a better guestbook and counter. Plus, I am looking into a really good cgi for the Product Review forum that will allow us to rate MA products.

You are really the master of the video, Scott. I don't know my input is fair because my connectivity is so fast that the 33rd Anniversary clip played like real-time.

Fantastic Scott! Of course, like Al, my DSL is a lot faster than a regular modem. I'll check it out later with Susan's 56k modem.

Thanks guys. All feedback is helpful no matter the speed. Especially since this morning I found that Netscape displays the embed much smaller than IE. Something I have to work on. Plus, I want to add a link or banner with a link to any embeds that may be from a vidmag series tape. I think best bet for now will be to use them for new clips. I don't want to make a page for each video. We have 41 right now.

George, if you have your introduction in AVI or mpeg format, I'd like to make that an embed right off the main video page.

Also, there is a new streaming format out I will begin experimenting with. From what I tried so far I don't like it. It looks like real media. But I want to see if I can tweak it to our higher standards.

Scott:

I'll begin working on a new introduction. The old one made some pretty accurate predictions that have since come true. Wonder what the next five years will bring????

Greetings from the land of slow modems.

With 26400bPS, the video took 8 minutes to play. Buffered 50% then played.

Thanks Jackie. Hmmm.. Well this particular clip was created for 80 kps. That's why on the video site I have 3 versions, sometimes 4 with the mpeg. I will create a 56k embed soon, when I do, if you get a chance, please try it. Thanks.
