George,
3 options for removing Win 2k.
1. Boot from a floppy/Win 9x cd and use fdisk to remove the partion and reformat.
2. If dual booting, boot to 9x and edit the boot.ini and delete the Win2k stuff
3. Some machines in the bios will allow a "Low level" format do that.

Uh, Thanks Chuck.

Stay away from low level format unless you have reached the point where you want to throw the drive or computer out the window, GEM. a) Absolutely cannot be interrupted. b) Sometimes requires assembly language coding -- esp. if a low level format is interrupted.

George -- why the downgrade? Games?

While my main computer was down two months ago, I upgraded my older Toshiba to win2000, while adding another 256meg of memory.

Even with the added memory, the computer ran slowly and I could not use my old reliable HP deskjet printer. So now that I have my main computer back and running win2000 beautifully, I wanted to reinstall win98 on the Toshiba. (Susan may be inheriting this machine)

Harry Skeffington dropped in this evening and got my win2000 working on the Toshiba. With only 65meg of memory, the programs work almost as well as my main computer!!!

I'm impressed...

Thanks Harry.
