Incendiary topic, and it's not napalm

Ok, if you don't want to have a discussion on, or read about, religion and the war, skip this thread. But I found this bit of news pretty annoying:

"The House passed a resolution Thursday calling for a national day of humility, prayer and fasting in a time of war and terrorism. The resolution, passed 346-49, says Americans should use the day of prayer "to seek guidance from God to achieve a greater understanding of our own failings and to learn how we can do better in our everyday activities, and to gain resolve in meeting the challenges that confront our nation." ... White House spokeswoman Claire Buchan said officials there had not looked at the resolution but "the president believes that faith and prayer are important and frequently references the importance of praying for American troops and for freedom around the world."
Here's how the prayer thing works (necessary assumption):
God is on our side, fighting man to man in Iraq, or, he is at least counting prayer-votes before taking sides. He's likely to guide our bullets and missiles to Iraqi soldiers so that they may be killed, provided enough of us wish it so, and he's going to step in front of bullets aimed at our troops.
Really, Mr. Bush? Or is this more likely to 1) massage Bush's conscience (and whichever other american consciences are massageable) that he's a righteous guy and 2) give us more bad press on the religion front after Bush's use of the word "crusade" to describe this little war.

Islam believes in one God, as does Judaism and Christianity 
.....but calling him by different names........Must get awefully confusing for God
