I loved the remark:

I couldn't beleive the cost of the program and the potential prosecutions. Where did the legislators think the money for that was going to come from?
The US must spend more time, effort and money on gun registration and enforecment than we do on health care for our citizens.
And to follow up, how exactly does registering a gun prevent crime? I've never been able to make that quantum leap in logic.
Ultra liberal Sean Penn's two legally registered handguns are now in the hands of a criminal. (maybe they were before, too??, didn't he once assault a photographer??) end of rant...

You're absolutely correct! Sean Penn was convicted of assault and got probation and a suspended sentence. BUT, according to the Lautenberg act,
any violent offense which
could have resulted in time served (whether it did or not) causes lifetime barring of the person's 2nd Amendment Right. Therefore, Sean Penn could
not have firearms at all... But thinking about two things makes me wonder if it isn't a correct statement in the article... 1- Just because he isn't supposed to have them doesn't mean they weren't "legally registered" and 2- with the money of the hollywierd set, they can just "buy" whatever license they want. I mean really... anti-gun Madonna moved to England to get away from U.S. "violence" and ran headlong into England's violence... In England, where private ownership of guns is virtually banned and the right to self-defense isn't recognized, Madonna was able to purchase and keep shotguns for home defense!
