Fred,

I was never taught to tie the obi knot in the back. The correct method is to tie the knot in the front. Possibly someone taught you to knot in the back, as some may use that method. However, if you google "hakama tying" it gives both written and pictural display of correct tying method. Hope ...

I let my students wear them after black belt.
Of course having trained in Judo I have a blue gi for that.
A Hakama for Iaido along with a Keikogi."

Ah, the "Hakama" of course, I had even forgotten about the one I have put away ...

You looked like a Sicilian hitman in that."

Fred,

Having Sicilian blood, I'll take that as a compliment :)

Also, thank you for the invitation. As I will try to make it over to visit. As I have neglected to get out and about ...

George,

That must be the Shureido Go that is now refered to as the Shihan Gi. Having just tried one on, it is extremely comfortable and soft to the touch. Unlike many cotton Gi's made of canvas material. (duck cloth)

While on line it does describe it as a polyester and rayon blend, it apparently ...

Certainly as Bill states, "we are all looking for a good value" as in this economy, many are more cost conscious. As to our individual fits and body size, it often does play into what Gi's we feel are best. One size does not fit all.

As for the financial cost, the "comfort" of a gi as well as the ...

Personally, I think it is worth the ...

Gi quality comparison

In considering purchasing a Shureido Gi, I note that the price is considerably more than most brands. Having worn many differerent brand Gi's over the decades, I have seen many who feel that the Shureido is best in quality as the extra expense being a value in itself.

Possibly, some my opinionate ...

Thanks George, I will try that next time I get spam mail. Meanwhile I shut off the spam settings, as it is a secondary e-mail address that is only used for the forums. Nothing else comes in there, as a yahoo adress it may not have that option you mention, while the outlook address has no problems ...

Forum replies go to spam mail

Recently I am experiencing all auto notification forum replies going to my spam mail. I have not had any such problems in the past. Only recently everything from the forum has been going to spam instead of "inbox" reply notification.

The settings have not be reset or adjusted and no other e-mail ...

The subject of “improvisation” is interesting and often not addressed. While many may feel the need to stay within their comfort zone, being the routine of pre-arranged drills and their programmed response to them, there is a need to develop ones ability to respond instinctively with whatever ...
