This is not really a karate subject, but if anyone
is interested in seeing images of the North Korean
army undergoing parachute training, get google
earth and go to:
39 54 13.25 N
125 29 23.69 E
to see the airport, if you look carefully you can see
a line of paratroopers marching parallel between the airfield
and the planes. And
39 51 51.12 N
125 29 25.8 E
to see a jump in process. I think there is a parachute
training tower to the east of this image but I am not
sure.
Sorry to those who find this a bit off topic.

Much of the google satellite photography is many years old. I googled my home address and sure enough, there I am. However, the mall that opened two years ago is no where to be seen... not even a clearing yet. A new highway connector is also absent and it was started almost 10 years ago.
The mosaics are neat but not likely current in most places.
I googled the Quantico Marine Corps Base and most of it is blacked out. It is good they are responsible in that regard.

There is no live action, just two shots from a
satellite image.
If you look carefully at the second image you will
see white circles. Often these circles show a shadow
nearby, sometimes they are crumpled looking. To
me this looks like a parachute jump when the
parachutists are landing.
The first image shows a lot of fairly small airplanes
which are surrounded on three sides by berms as
protection from attack.
There is not enough resolution to pick up individuals
in these images; however if you look at the road
that runs parallel between the airplanes and the runway
you can see two lines of dots on either side of the
road which is two columns of men. This starts at the
corner of the road linking the planes to the runway
and runs 270 yards left (use tools measure, in the top
left hand corner of the window). You do have to zoom
in to about 650 feet to see this clearly.
OK, this has nothing to do with Karate, but I thought
that as there are a lot of military minded people on
the list it might interest some of us. It seems cool
that anyone can now look inside a closed society
like North Korea with a web browser.

No, this is fine. It's perfectly appropriate for this forum. Welcome aboard!
I'm always wary of a new poster starting an odd thread. Nine times out of ten, it's for hot Russian brides, how to make your winkie larger, etc.
I have to be careful what I peruse from work. My Big Brother software has no sense of humor.

North Korean Army
Several people on google earth hacks
have been looking at the image. We have
found four transport planes (identified
as AN-2s). This is interesting given what
the DIA website says (see below). I would
welcome the opinion of anyone here who
has a military background in Parachuting
to comment.
If you are interested in this go to www.google.earth.hacks.com
and either go to forums, great things
you have found, or to the down load
area (look at the North Korean imagery
there are a lot of good shots beside this),
or to the web link below.

Special Forces Operations
North Korea's Special Operations Forces, among the largest in the world, are organized into 22 brigades and 7 independent battalions. These forces have five basic missions: conducting reconnaissance, performing combat operations in concert with conventional operations, establishing a second front in the enemy's rear area, countering the South's special operations in North Korean rear areas, and maintaining internal security.
The Ministry of the People's Armed Forces has two primary commands that control special operations units --- the Reconnaissance Bureau and the Light Infantry Training Guidance Bureau. North Korea classifies its special operations units as reconnaissance, light infantry, or sniper. Team-sized elements conduct reconnaissance to collect intelligence or targeting information. Light infantry operations are combat operations conducted with company- or battalion-sized units against military, political, or economic targets. Sniper operations basically are the same as light infantry except they are conducted in team-sized units.
The North Korean Air Force supports special operations missions with airborne infiltration and resupply operations. The primary aircraft are the 250 An-2/COLTs. The North Korean Navy supports amphibious operations, sea infiltration, and resupply. The principal vessel for amphibious operations is the NAMPO personnel landing craft. Minisubmarines and semisubmersible insertion landing craft support most agent missions

Not all that responsible
They might have blacked out QuanticO, but I googled a facility which should have been blacked out for much higher security reasons and it is shown in detail. Way too much detail. A near perfect terrorist target. I would be negligent in stating what, where or even how I know of this facility, and I'm sure my fellow patriots won't ask. Ask questions of only what U NEED to know.
Y do I miss jumping out of perfectly good aircraft all of a sudden?

I should also mention that there are a number
of other good images of N.Korea on the same
site. Several of their fighter planes on runways,
another of the airdefences around the capital,
apparently one of the highest concentrations
of anti-aircraft rockets in the world. We also
found what another guy said were US planes
on the ground, but well away from a runway.
Perhaps a training school ?
What would happen if you tried to buy imagery
of sensitive areas of the US ? Would you be
reported or not ? I suspect that google earth
will be no help to places like N.Korea and Iran,
they must know this stuff already. The problem
is more the freelance wackos, people like Tim
McVeigh or the shoe bomber. It makes things a lot
more convenient for them.

>Why would someone need to purchase when all U need to >do is right click and print?
Thats what I mean, up until now you had to buy a
satellite image. This meant that places like North Korea
and Iran had them, but your average freelance wacko
did not. Now anyone can get them.
BTW the first link that I gave does not work, use the
second one down,
click on
http://websearch.about.com/gi/dynamic/o ... hacks.com/
scroll down a bit and under other stuff you will see forums
on the left. Click on forums
then go to: Great things you've found
there is one thread on the parachute jumping
a second called Heavy defended area
shows the massive SAM sites that surround Pyongyang.
You will need to install google earth to see them though.
