One legislature said that the florida law would permit someone to fire at another driver if they'd been doing a road rage dance for ten minutes and it escalated to the point where they were both endangering each other.

Weapon. Noun. Item that offends the sensibilities of a politician which, having never attended a self defense class or experienced a violent or traumatic crime, or been put at significant risk of one, is attempting to create this or that appearance for political reasons.

Great! Life is getting better. Now they need a statewide preemption law. That will be next year.

Great news in Virginia law:

HB 1265, Delegate Janis' bill to keep the government from disarming us during an emergency or disaster, was signed into law today and becomes effective July 1!

This was signed by our new and very liberal Governor Tim Caine! He is a raise taxes and spend kind of guy but he does recognize the importance of self defense in a crisis. He learned from the New Orleans disaster.

The rights to self defense continues to grow in the US:

Self-Defense Bolstered In Idaho House Vote

The Idaho House voted 61-to-just-six on April 4 in favor of a measure giving Idaho residents the right to defend their homes and businesses, without fear of a lawsuit.

Missouri House Approves `Castle Doctrine` Bill

Missourians would have greater legal standing to defend themselves from home invaders and carjackers under a bill given first-round approval April 5 in the House.

Governor Heineman Signs Right-To-Carry Law

On April 5, Gov. Dave Heineman signed LB 454 into law, granting Nebraskans the Right-To-Carry.

2006 is shaping up to be a great year for law abiding citizen's rights.

I like the part about protection against lawsuits. This is another tact of the miscreants - to use the civil litigation process against those who get in the way of their right to be a scumbag predator.

Life is good. 8)

Meanwhile in Great Britain...

"Let Burglars Off With Caution," Police Told

British Burglars will be allowed to escape without punishment under new instructions sent by the Home Office to all police forces. Police have been told they can let them off the threat of a court appearance and instead allow them to go with a caution. The same leniency will be shown to criminals responsible for more than 60 other different offences, ranging from arson through vandalism to sex with underage girls.

Muggings Go Unreported

Six out of ten muggings are never reported because the public have lost faith in the police to do anything. The devastating verdict is delivered in a report by Demos, one of Tony Blair`s favorite think-tanks. It reveals plummeting public confidence in the police means tens of thousands of offences go unreported.

Just remember...
If it weren't for guns we'd be British.

Jeeze.

On that note I'll be going for my CCP next week. Do you know off hand what I need to bring for ID?
After that it's time to get more training and then to shop.

A valid VA drivers license is fine. Bring a second document showing the same address and name... a vehicle registration will work. Harry was asked for a second document when he was fingerprinted but that is not usually the case.

Be sure to apply in the county you reside in. Henrico wants fingerprints but Hanover does not require them. A bill eliminating that requirement is awaiting Gov. Kaine's signature. We shall see.

One note about the conceal carry becoming legal in Nebraska:
A loophole in the law now makes the positions of city council members and mayors across the state most important. It appears that the law will allow cities to override the law and ban conceal carry. Look for Lincoln to try and take advantage of the loophole. Omaha already has a law on the books prohibiting concealed weapons.
