Hi:

1. The F14 Tomcat was retired by the Navy in favor of the F18.

The F-18E does not quite have the 'legs' of a Tomcat but is move maneuverable, smaller, easier to maintain and was built from the ground up as a multirole fighter/bomber.

The BombCat did not make the Navy happy in Iraqi Freedom.

2. Osama Bin Laden was reported dead of typhus in Pakistan according to a leak from French intelligence.

Nobody believes it.

The 2 items come from the AOL main page, but it is not one of my usual sources.

I will post something on the Navy's longtime relationship with Grumman later as well as the effect this will have on "CAPS" over our carrier groups.

Any Navy fliers out there?
