A not too terrible repro type Spagenhelm can be found

It was not unusual for Roman Cavarly units to wear these maskx, esociallly on parade, but Hugh would know more.

I suspect their use in combat may have been limited.

I will research it some.

The question is, I suppsoe, were the face masks "generic" of made individually??
