What was going on in the mid 20's was rapid growth in militarism, industrialization, and nationalism. The wars won in Russia and China had come at a huge cost and the body count was enormous. Kanbun Uechi would have been drafted into this, with a high likelihood of death. The Japanese sent wave after wave of troops against Russian machine guns, all for the glory of the Emperor. He was not a crowned prince, but a God on Earth, his image promoted and used by the military leaders. After the Japanese defeated the Russians all of Asia was shocked. The west had never been defeated. Asia was pleased, but this quickly turned into shock as they jammed their culture, language etc.. down every asian countries throat. Including Okinawa.
