Some Streaming Clips

Post by Scott Danziger »

THIS POST UPDATED... ADDED CLIP! (Instead of posting more replies)

Tony put up a few clips on the site. However, we are still encountering some problems getting them to work sometimes. We are trying to isolate the problems between computers, server, or the clips themselves. We know they work off of a hard drive or CD. I sent Tony the AVI's and the corresponding ASF's (streaming files) and I believe they all worked fine straight from his machine. They did from mine.

Please click on each of the following links and tell us what happened. There is a reason for my "madness" and if we can get this to work properly, I think you will all enjoy what we hope to accomplish.

Thank You for your time and patience.

It makes no sense. Image If it worked off your HD and your CD and mine, and Earthlinks server, I can't see how the video portion of the file is not working off the xpres server. If I email you the exact asf that I put up on earthlink, can you put it up on xpres? Then I'll asx a link to it.

I feel we are getting close.

Anybody out there having any problems or not having any problems?

Maybe I should post the links on Bill's forum where there are many people.

Frustrated,
Scott

I'll try putting the 56k version on earthlink's server. Let's see what happens. I wish I had the room to put the bigger files up there.

I was checking out MS's media site and found that the MPEG-4 v3 was designed for PII and III computers. I have a 200 MMX. That may explain why I am having buffering problems. I could't get video though from the 56k. I get the blue screen which is how I started the clip but it remains that way throughout.

Scott: That ad for Uechi-com really "rocks"! However, even with DHL, all the clips kept buffeting. I've asked Harry from xpres.net to look into the speed problem.

(Tony & Scott), I checked the links they all list earthlink as the server. Is this correct?

Harry

I edited this message Harry, rather than post another. Tony & Scott are the only ones who know what happened. gem

George,
Ask Tony to send you the 30 meg original avi. I would but I am still on dial up Image. It's smooth, clear, and a whole lot better.

Maurice,
All the clips did that? Even the last one?

Harry
Even though all the .ASX files link to earthlink, all but the last clip (which is actually asf format) are on this server. The last one I put up on Earthlink server. The asx files reference the .asf clip. That is how MS made it work. ASX files are text files with an html code to call the .asf clip. The last link on the original post above is the only file referencing an asf on Earthlink because most the other clips weren't working correctly. We wanted to see if it was server related.

If you had an asx file on your own HD and clicked on it, it would still access the referenced file wherever you would have it be.
