When working on my website, I try use components that are compatible with both Explorer and Netscape. I was having trouble with earlier versions of Netscape, include 4.7. After my unpleasant experience with Microsoft's buggy beta 5.5, I swore off beta of any kind.
However, I read some positive things about Netscape 6, even though it is a beta first release.
Since I was planning on deleting my older version Netscape I figured the Beta couldn't do any harm.
Installation was easy and trouble freee. Bottom line... I like it.
Anyone else with Version 6 experiences?

Hello George,
I think NetScrape is pretty crool.

Good Luck!
Stay with IE, George. Even tho Microsoft has been split in two lopsized Microsofts: "BabySoft”, and "GrandpaSoft". The larger of the two still remains larger than anyone else and we will have TWO major operations to [work/contend] (pick one) with. Bill Gates, the other day said something like "You haven't seen anything yet" or "The best is yet to come" or something like that.

I do too, George, but if you are going to strive for a uniform look across the board, George you must write to be compatible with every version of every major browser out there. That's why I'm writing code (whenever I get a chance to) to write my website to make that happen because it is a formidable task, George, especially when you have several hundred pages to keep track of. You are very fortunate to have experts lend you plenty of assistance and time because voluminous websites can be nearly impossible to maintain, repair, and update.
Back to Netscape 6... It succeeds in locking up the PCs on every one I have used. My humble opinion considers it to be pretty bad (read the earlier posts on this segment of the forums), plus I also have a knack for bringing software to it's knees and to it's death. It is hard to kill IE.
On a lighter side, Win 98 users can't win, nor can they quit the game. Do you have it in for B.G. (Bill Gates)?

Netscape Beta 6
Allen et al,
I find it very interesting that people like IE5 so much. Both Netscape 4.7 and IE5 crash regularly on my, but when IE crashes it crashes my whole sustem. Netscape 6 is very nice because wehn it crashes it sems not to affect anything else
.
I actually like Netscape 6 (for a bets--I remember using a beta version of IE that alsmost drove me totally mental).
George-
I would have suggested that you refrain from deleting the earlier netscape for a while. The bet is pretty buggy.
hey--different strokes--
I don't really care much what the US governement does to Microsoft (although I do think that their stranglehold on the PC market has pushed some better technologies out of the limelight).Personally , I'm planning to be running a G4 by the end of the year and I'm also planning to run Linux on my PC.
yours,
maurice

This Netscrape/Internet Explorer thing reminds me of a large flat surface with ridges to prevent anything from falling off, and containing many marbles. Lift one end up and all the marbles roll to the low end; lift the low end and all the marbles roll back to where they were in the first place.
The breakup of Microsoft is a double-edged sword. It will either intensify the demand for developers, or the software industry will become fragmented turning the s/w world into a Tower of Babel...

Netscape Beta 6
I ended up deleting the beta netscape vs 6. It began to lock up my computer during certain operations. I'll be watching for the real version to appear and will definately give it another try. Meanwhile, I'll make due with the older, somewhat proven, browsers.
