Arnie and others:
Some people say they are having difficulties loading the program used for the Voice Cafe.
Since I've just reformatted my hard drive again, I figured I go through the motions of loading the software. It seemed pretty simple: Just click on the top link, which loads the program to a directory of your choice. When the process is completed, just click on the Eastern Arts Icon and a new window appears. You must have your sound card installed of course, but once the window is activated, simply minimize the window in the background. You can hear anyone who says hello and you can respond by simply holding F9 while talking.
Let me know if anyone else is having trouble.
Arnie: Give it another try.

Mattson sensei,
I should be so fortunate. When I click on the top link, a page opens that tells me to wait for the plug-in to load, stating that 'If you QUIT or CLOSE this page down, you may have trouble getting the plug-in to install'. Well, since it *never* installs, I have no choice but to close the silly window. While that window is open, there is NO activity on the cable modem, so it is not even trying to download anything. There are no OpTecs files anywhere on my machine, or OpTecs keys in the registry. Since the machine is making no attempt to download the plug-in, and I have been unable to locate any files that might make it think the plug-in is already installed, I am at something of a loss.

Sorry for the screw-up Arnie. I loaded the file without any problem yesterday. Please try again. If you still have a problem, I'll email the program to you.

Mattson sensei,
I still have a problem. I am not certain where the problem lies, but it is probably something on my computer. At one time, when I clicked the first link I got prompted about whether I wanted to install the software and all that. Now I get nothing at all. I cannot find anything to delete or uninstall. If you could email the software, that would be great.

OK Arnie. It is in the mail.
May have something to do with your security settings. Hope the links and tips solve your problem.

Mattson sensei, thank you! I downloaded the full version, and it installed and ran without a hitch! I don't think it was a security setting, as I don't have anything(ActiveX controls, etc.) disabled. However, the downloaded version worked perfectly. I will now be leaving the software running while I browse the site, in case anyone out there decides to actually use it.
