Friends:

Well, it's Sunday, but I sparred with another instructor and didn't actually get the ----whatever knocked out of me too badly.

"Good Fight" he said.

Ah----nice feeling.

Later, sitting on the grass with my daughter, she said:

"Dad, I'm gonna puch you in the stomach"

She's 11.

So saying, (we were both kneeling on the grass) she absently plucked some grass with her right hand and tossed it in the air.

Then punched me squarely in the nose with her left.

Well, when my wife did help me back to an upright position, my daughter looked at me with tears and apprehension:

"Nice punch Elizabeth"

I hope this was the appropriate response.

After some delbration-I have deleted Proboscis/uke from the system.

It was of value while the teacher of intern avenues of the art considered that the blood an mucus involved was a positive value while the style was focusing on the "Titanimum Nose" (as oppossed to iron shirt).

Oh Well.

Proboscis/UKe is actually part of a deep internal art that only I (and maybe J.D and Moe) can understand.

When used property it stimulates internal "fhnee" to great level.

Absolutely!

However, the sticky part of it is, she wouldn't actually hit anyone else.

So, I want her feel that can can if she feels she has to. She is pretty "Yin/Passive" kid.

If I lost my cool about it, I don't know what the effect would be. I do NOT want her to be as passive as she is and I don't think she is going to hit any of the other kids in 4th grade.

Next year, or the year after, maybe she might have to?

Further complicating matter was the punch was exact in its extension. Another inch, bloody nose, 1/2 shorter. clean miss.

She has not practiced enough to be that exact, or, at least I didn't think so. Maybe she got lucky.

I felt stupid.

But I more or less left it at "good punch" (you didn't hurt me) and later "don't be hitting any of the other kids". To that I got a "Daaaaa----aaad!" (meaning of course I wouldn't, YOURE the designated punching bag, I wouldn't actually hit a friend!!)

So, at this point I left it at the praise level.

Do you think I should raise the matter again?

She,as I said, is not an aggressive kid.

I would accept guidance, of course.

It's your call; you are the one who knows your kid. All this has to be taken in context, and you are the best judge of that.

It sounds to me like things are fine, and she really pulled a fast one on you. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk! A wise guy, eh?

At least you know that she will probably be smart enough to take care of herself when she grows up.

I'll have to try that the next time I have a confrontation.
