Next Regional Workout!

Post by Fedele Cacia »

I have decided to take Matson Sensei up on his offer to host the next regional workout. I am much honored to be chosen to follow in the footsteps of many before me, and will do my best to keep the standards as high as my predecessors have.

As a Natick resident and a Natick Dojo owner, I would like to nominate the fine Gymnasium facilities at the Natick High School as the location of the up coming regional workout, (directions of which will follow in good time).

With the up coming Dantest on October 21st, I thought, that the beginning of October would be a good warm up, yet not on top of the test for the Dan candidates.

I am requesting opinions on dates; what works best for you!
I have October 6th provisionally booked, I’m not sure what other dates are available but when I get some feedback I can make more inquires.

Please respond one and all!!!

PS
To ensure a quick response, this message has been posted on a couple of different forums, please respond on the “Events, Products & Services”

Thanks,
Fedele

Speaking of special dates, can anyone tell me when Joe Pomfret's fight is supposed to be? I've been thinking...

Fedele,
I can't think of anyone we'd all rather see do the next regional. The 6th of October is not good for me, however. I'll be in New Hampshire assisting my JKD/Kali teacher who is in town teaching a seminar.
If another date should get chosen, I want to come pal!

Could someone please tell me ,is the regional workout open to all or is it by invitation only?
It seems my friend Mary S. and another friend are going to be in the Boston area that very weekend. We have tickets to attend a play at the Colonial Theatre on Saturday. I don't know what the schedual for the workout is but I think it could be very interesting. Could somebody give a little info on what the regional workout is and who is welcome?Thank-you,

You'd BETTER come!!! These regionals are for Uechi ryu family (of all lineages), and you two qualify.

Thanks Bill!!!
You are too kind!
Do you have any info on times and such?
We have tickets for Saturday afternoon for the play in the city but if we can pull it off ,I think it would be great!
We had no idea this was going on when we booked out tickets and stuff. It is our Thanksgiving weekend so it seemed a good time for another road trip. And what better place than Boston, with so many friends to see and great things to do.

Hi Lori. The regionals usually wrap-up about noonish and Natick is a half-hour or so from Beantown by the Pike. I'm sure special dispensation can be arranged if you need to exit the regional a squeak early Image

The regionals are definitely the place to go to pick up a few pointers, and there are instructors from different Uechi-ryu groups to teach different angles.

I't just like a special Uechi-ryu dojo workout with multiple top-level instructors all at once, except the number of students in the regional often exceeds 200 with sometimes as many as 25 in the front row. It is definitely a day of lightning and thunder with ozone permeating the atmosphere. A packed regional is a must to experience.

Bill:

I believe Joe's Light Heavyweight Title Fight will be held on November 3.

If I am wrong, I am sure Joe will post a response.
