Mary,
As I sit here this morning in the office of my school with my finger numb waiting for the heat to come up, I wish I were Canadian ;)
Yesterday it was 9 degrees, ouch! Today not much better. But your post did give me a giggle so thanks.
Tony, I sent you a private message last week. It went to Tony san so I guess you didn't get it. Just a quick computer question. E mail me at Xraff@aol.com when you get a shot. Thanks pal.

That post is almost identical to a version that has been circulating around Nebraska, obviously with the hardy folks being Nebraskans instead of Canadians in it, and it ends with the Hell freezing over equating to when the current University of Nebraska football coach will win a national championship. The Nebraskan one has extra versus though. I wonder how many other versions there are floating around.

NOT THAT COLD YET

@ +70 degrees Texans turn on the heat and unpack the thermal underwear.
People in Nebraska go swimming in the rivers.

@ +60 degrees North Carolinians try to turn on the heat.
People in Nebraska plant gardens.

@ +50 degrees Californians shiver uncontrollably.
People in Nebraska sunbathe.

@ +40 degrees Italian & English cars won't start.
People in Nebraska drive with the windows down.

@ +32 degrees Distilled water freezes.
River water gets thicker.

@ +20 degrees Floridians don coats, thermal underwear, gloves, and woolly
hats.
People in Nebraska throw on a flannel shirt.

@ +15 degrees Philadelphia landlords finally turn up the heat.
People in Nebraska have the last cookout before it gets cold.

@ +10 degrees People in Miami all die...
Nebraskans lick the flagpole.

@ -20 degrees Californians fly away to Mexico.
People in Nebraska get out their winter coats.

@ -40 degrees Hollywood disintegrates.
The Girl Scouts in Nebraska are selling cookies door to door.

@ -60 degrees Polar bears begin to evacuate the Artic.
Nebraska Boy Scouts postpone "Winter Survival" classes until it gets cold
enough

Cold? Naw...it's not cold!!! Well...I did break down and buy a hat earlier this week. :bday:

I heard the other day that the windchil factor on Mount Washington, NH was -146f. The weather guy on tv (from Boston) said why bother reporting that kind of extreme, after -40 it's just plain cold, another negative 100 degrees isn't going to make that much of a difference!!!!

So of course Lori MD and I are headed there in about two weeks!!! Lori - should I pack the suntan lotion or will you?? :x-mas:

Sounds good Mary! I was thinking that I might pack my shorts to wear on the mountain. Thought I'd work on my tan before I go south in April!
Hey Mare! Remember when we went to Winterfest a couple of years ago and everyone was wearing parkas and hats and mitts! And the two Canadians were in shorts!!! Boy,those Floridians sure have thin blood!

HAHA I remember that VERY well....it was killing me to see that woman in the ear muffs and the mittens next to me in the buffet line while I had on a tee-shirt and shorts, she kept looking at me like I had grown an extra head and I kept thinking I'd walked right into a StarWars movie with Princess Leia!! :shocked!: And it was SOOOO warm that night!!!!

But then (because there's always a "but then")...strangely enough, the laughter dies as I remember us coming back to Nova Scotia and the five foot snow drifts that met us as we got off the plane! Such a contrast, suntans and sunburns while surrounded by snow up to our necks!!! I would love to see how the folks from Fla. would fare up here (yes, Tony, that's a standing invitation!!!) :)

Lor, do you still have that picture of us or did Tony have it???

Glenn, isn't it interesting the further we are apart the closer we are together :)

Tony - that wasn't tan, it was sand burn from David Moy dragging us all over the beach!!! :D

That was an awesome Winterfest - I remember fondly Roy Bedard's strikes to the throat, Lori dropping Dave Talley and enjoying every minute and how much fun we all had at your place, with David and Raffi and the coffee that never stopped coming!!!! :)

Haha Van - that's not even close!!! I bought a "toque" (Canadian expression??) and not only does it keep me warm but I supported a great charity which looks to finding long-term solutions to helping the homeless - at this time of the year shelter is number-one priority. :)

Besides I don't think I look good in pink :)

More like contestant number 2 'cept mine's a dark blue :)
Number 1 doesn't seem too functional for cold weather to me.

I wear my toque proudly!!! (plus I just love to say that word out loud!!!)
