For Tuesday's voters, there was anger at Bush, reflected in exit polls conducted for NBC News and other news organizations. “
Those polls are at democrat primaries?
Funny how Massachusetts picks a republican to handle local matters but picks Democrats to represent their national interest.
Several different things going on in that sentence all at the same time makes that statement like comparing apples to Buicks.

Mass is a liberal demo Kennedy state, so going all demo with just about everything is just about right for the Commonwealth. But then again, Swift [GOP] wasn't too swift and her unswiftful spending [like the Booze Cruise] almost cost the party.

I didn't realize that Mass picked a demo [Kerry] to represent their national interest. Fact, I didn't realize thay picked anyone.

I've heard similar comments about Kerry including one woman who said she was going to vote for him "because he's just sooooo much more handsome than Bush." (Panther)
I hate hearing things like that. Deceased war veterans and signers of the constitution are spinning in their graves, no doubt. Reminds me of hearing someone say "I'm not voting for Al Gore because I don't want someone in the White House named Tipper."

I think Panther may have hit the nail on the head.....
People will say they hate Kennedy, but they'll vote for him anyway for one reason or another... I've heard people who say they can't stand him rationalize their vote for him with sympathy for the "Kennedy curse" or by pointing out all the "pork" he gets us!
It seems like there is a republican running the state budget.. and republicans are reputed to be "tight" with their money. Yet when it comes to working on national interests (congress, senate) maybee even getting billions for say.. the big dig, a Democrat is picked.

Pretty smart.

OK... you can throw the tomatoes at me now  now

Allen. I can't really comment on Swift. I've been out of Mass 7 years now.. don't know the first thing about her except she was pregnant.

She is a republican. She was never elected, rather appointed, therefore she was never a real governor. When it came time for elections, however, the polls were hotly against her for numerous reasons, therefore she quit her bid for election citing that she'd rather take care of her family, a novel and nobel concept, than stay in the elections.

Definitely her taxpayer spending habits were not typical repulican.
Things look good for Kerry. I can hardly wait to see what kind of stuff the Republican campaighn machine will dig up.
It's not the republicans who sometimes discover sorry, sordid, and sometimes immoral details, rather it's the hungry news media which thrives on sensationalism, who are about to whip up a gourmet dish of Kerrygate Mystery Meat real soon. Will his goose be cooked or will his hands be washed are the two big questions of interest of late.

Panther writes about the Kennedys in this state. He's right. They do walk on water with the multitudes of Massatwoshitters giving them the aura of mini-gods.
pointing out all the "pork" he gets us!
Starting with JFK in the 60s with NASA, Route 128 received a golden booster shot of Washington Greens in the arm and continues to this day to rival Silicon Valley in Cafilornia. Keep me working and off state aid, and I'll cast a Kennedy vote any day in a heartbeat.

Panther writes also of his unhappiness with a current administration direction. If it is the issue of which I am thinking, then both he and I are unhappy with the same issues, issues which are enough for me to cast my vote into the other camp.

Presitential elections, to me, are not about picking the right man for the job, rather to attempt to select the one who seems to be capable of doing the least damage while in office. If I can't trust an individual because he [or she, thinking of one senator] speaks for the moment, lies through the teeth, changes colors like a chamelion just to get votes, and other less-than honorable attributes, then what's the purpose in voting for that one?

BTW, Bart. Six weeks overdue, she finally arrived from Kansas City on Monday; Outstanding and simply beautiful.

I am not going to venture a guess about what you are refering to  but it had me so mad that :bad-words: I wrote the RNP to inform them that I was going to the other camp because of the issue/issues. But it seems we are on a very slippery slope with some things that have already taken momentum, and like a snowball the effects will only increase. So maybee it is too late.

I am sure that the leteer has been shredded and delivered to a recycling plant where it will be turned into toilet paper. Sigh.

As for what I said about them digging up trash on Kerry, I truly beleive that there are those in the republican party who are hiring private dicks to dredge up trash in Kerrys past, BUT I am not foolish enough to believe that there are not Democrats out there doing the same thing to Bush. I am DEFINITELY not foolish enough to believe either of them is a saint.. in fact I view them as any other big politition= someone who tells you what you want to hear but may not actually practice what he preaches, and is probably a little crooked, and has their own self interests in mind.

So I believe I need to sift through the BS and vote for the man who will do his best to carry out what he promised during his campaighn. George Bush will be a lame duck president with a majority senate and congress. That scares me that he can push some of his bright ideas right on through.

Fed up with the dems and repubs?

Post by Panther »

Don't care for the same anti-freedom BS whether it is from a demopublican or a republicrat? Tired of voting for someone only to find out when they get into office that they're really a "legisTraitor"? Tired of "holding your nose" and "voting for the lesser of two evils"?

Just remember...

(from: Douglas Adams, "so Long and Thanks for all the Fish")

a large spaceship has crashed into harrods of london, and a large robot has emerged, and said, “take me to your lizard”. ford prefectly explains this to arthur dent:
“It comes from a very ancient democracy, you see …”
“You mean it comes from a world of lizards?”
“No,” said Ford, “nothing so simple. Nothing anything like so straightforward. On its world, the people are people. The leaders are lizards. The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people.”
“Odd,” said Arthur, “I thought you said it was a democracy.”
“I did,” said Ford. “It is.”
“So,” said Arthur, hoping he wasn’t sounding ridiculously obtuse, “why don’t the people get rid of the lizards?”
“It honestly doesn’t occur to them,” said Ford. “They’ve all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they’ve voted in more or less approximates the government they want.”
“You mean they actually vote for the lizards?”
“Oh yes,” said Ford with a shrug, “of course.”
“But,” said Arthur, going for the big one again, “why?”
“Because if they didn’t vote for a lizard,” said Ford, “the wrong lizard might get in. Got any gin?”
Tired of voting for lizards? Try voting for someone that represents Freedom, Libterty, Rights and Personal Responsibility... Check into the Libertarians...

Libertarian

Post by benzocaine »

I like a lot of the Libertarian principles.. in fact most of the principles, planks, or what have you.

Funny thing happened to me once. Remember how the libertarian party offered free videos to people interested in them?(about 4 years ago) Well the guy who took my request mispelled my last name in a major way. About a year later I start getting junk mail... all with the same mispelling that was in the Libertarian party's data base! They sold my adress! :x

Yeah, they probably had to sell adresses to pay for their expense of the "free" videos. I still feel sold out though.
