OT: Hotel Deals????

I will be flying to LA this summer to attend a fruiends weding and I was wonderign if anyone here knows how to get a good deal on a hotel? Ids the re soemthing to tell the operator when I call or anyother way to get a deal?

In general, anything and everything is negotiable.

* Make reservations early.

* Try making deals through various internet travel sites like Orbitz or Travelocity.

* Ask the going rate. Then ask for a discount. The worst thing that can happen is they say no.

If you have an AAA membership, that's often good for a discount. I had to make a hotel reservation last week and the AAA discount was about 15%.

Another thing you might try is using Priceline.com. I don't like using them for airline tickets because you have no control over your flight times, but I've used them to get inexpensive hotel rooms (and rental cars) several times.
