"Fahrenheit 9/11" opened in 848 theatres, probably in part due to a campaign by conservative groups calling on theatres to not show the film. But it was planned for such a smallish initial release anyway. It did an estimated $21.6 million with a per-theater average of $25,115. Considering the film was made for $6 million, any predatory capitalist worth his weight ought to be lauding the entire affair. But, apparently it's okay only when Republicans make money.
"Spiderman 2" is getting excellent reviews, but I'm still waiting for "I,Robot" and hope it doesn't turn out to be a dud.
Funny how Sec. Wolfowitz didn't question the reporters' stones when they were embedded with the troops, acting as defacto cheerleaders....
And who are these "talking heads" predicting failure?
And where are the WMDs? Where are the strong Hussein-Al Qaeda terror connections? Where are the foundations of the supposed danger Iraq posed to the uS? Can these "Great Americans" we keep seeing answer those questions? We're (still) waiting.....

Things sure are looking up in Iraq. 3 Marines killed in a blast yesterday and another Marine beheaded. Sure are glad things are going right at the cost of $55 billion dollars, thousands of lives lost and untold hatred generated.
But our mighty Commander in Chief has decided to pull a Vietnamese tactic: Declare victory and withdraw.

Have you seen it? Maybe doing our part at home for the troops is getting us out of an illegitimate war?Bill Glasheen wrote:Rich
Anyone wanna come see Spiderman with me next weekend, and knock Moore's propaganda off the charts? ... After all, we each have to do our part at home for our troops, and for the next fledgling democracy.
Even if you don't think *this* war is illegitimate (a question rehashed many times, obviously) isn't it at least *conceivable* that the best thing for the country and the troops would be to oppose a war that we shouldn't be in? Would anybody really try to argue that patriotism means adopting a herd mentality? I can't think of anything less in the spirit of America as it's supposed to be.
Agree or disagree with the movie's opinion on the war, isn't it still better for our entertainment to be more than fluff? Nothing against Spiderman, I dig superhero stuff, but I'd rather see a Limbaugh/Hannity (The equivalent of Moore) propaganda piece top the movie charts, because at least it means people are paying attention to the world and possibly even thinking about things.I can't think of a better film to do it! Make it to the theatre with me, and it's my treat.

It's behind us now, Justin. We can argue from now until the cows come home about the legitimacy of the war. But I don't know of any serious political candidate who advocates us pulling out of Iraq right now - especially since they now have a sovereign government and need help from the world community.Maybe doing our part at home for the troops is getting us out of an illegitimate war?
I otherwise respect your point of view, Justin, and will defend your right to express it.
Yes, I am delighted that there is dialogue.

Amen! I listen to Hannity and Limbaugh all the time. I also listen to Thom Hartman on Sirius radio. article he wrote.
After listening to one propaganda I listen to the other one for a while. The idea is eventually I'll get a good idea of what the truth is

Okay. Just for the record I'm not advocating that we just turn around and go home and pretend like it never happened.Bill Glasheen wrote: It's behind us now, Justin.
