Red Sox yes! Kerry no!

This is Dave Young's Forum.

Justin

Did you read this entire thread? Do you not understand the point I've been trying to make from post number 1?

When Kerry went to Boston to throw out the first pitch at a game during DNC week (and perhaps coincidentally when the Bosox were on a post Allstar break tear), he needed briefing from his staff to learn names of players and such.

But don't worry, Justin, we won't have to talk about this again until/when/if Boston wins the World Series. Today apparently he's back to being the "regular" guy he is 24/7

Cute outfit. I wonder if the missus picked it out...

P.S. Justin, you need a strong dose of cynicism to appreciate politics.

Heh, in the sense of understanding and having interest, sure. For the admiration sense of appreciate, you need a good strong masochistic streak.

Really, I don't expect that Kerry is that much of a Red Sox fan. Then again, I'm always astounded when someone suggests that anything a politician appears to enjoy is genuine. As far as I can tell, only their skill at fakery varies, when it comes to personality.

I guess I'm really a "fair weather" fan. I quite following the Sox when the ball went through Buckner's wickets... Have only cursory followed them since... until this year. I didn't even get wrapped up in it last year until there was the potential for the Sox to face the Cubs. This year it's been strange. I've been watching, but I can't even say that I was one of the true "believers". Regardless...

Just another game on the way to making history...

Bye bye, baseball. Hello Manny!

Great teams find a way to win, even when they play poorly. (Red Sox vs. Cardinals, game 1 and game 2). Mediocre teams fold when they make a few mistakes (Red Sox at Cardinals, game 3).

Always the loyal fan,

the post by ljr on the Kerry sports goofs is classic and hilarious.....Maybe Kerry can start training for The summer games in China with the womens softball team lol..He sure doesn't look very athletic so hopefully Theresa can show him how to catch and throw a football and a baseball. In all the pics on the sports site he looks more like Mariah Carey than John Kerry lol..Close your eyes while catching that ball John cause you might get an eyelash in your eye awe lol...That's the whole problem with Kerry, he never could see anything that was right in front of his face but just like in every other case he can lie and spin it around and claim his eye's were open the whole time lol..

John Kerry played soccer at Yale and scored the winning goal his senior year in the Harvard-Yale game. He also is an avid and accomplished skier and snowboarder and enjoys the outdoors when residing at his wife's house in Idaho. He also is an avid ice hockey player.

Do you play soccer, ski, snowboard or play ice hockey, Jeff?

Someone once said, "The day the Red Sox win the World Series is the day there's a full eclipse during the games."

Anyone look outside? I think the lunar eclipse looks great. What's that? It's looks a little red as in Red Sox. Woo! Hoo!

The curse is lifted. The Bambino finally forgives...

Thursday, October 28, 2004

This Red Sox team came back against all odds and showed America what heart is. In 2004, the Red Sox are America's team," the statement read.

I'm shocked!!! (not...)

Thanks for the find, Ben. Funny that Fox news was the one who picked up the self-serving "press release." Don't you think they also reported this with a touch of cynicism?

America's team, eh? Good one. Mom, apple pie, and Kerry! :usa

Wonder if he lost a few votes in Missouri...

Did you check out how the story on Ben's link has changed through the day? I heard this on XM radio, searched for it on Fox News online, and then just now saw that the revised story is at the same link as Ben's posted above.

Here's the whole story - now.
Candidates Hail Red Sox
Thursday, October 28, 2004

TOLEDO, Ohio — Count Sen. John Kerry (search) of Massachusetts among those Boston baseball fans who have waited a lifetime to see the Red Sox win the World Series. President Bush (search) says he's excited, too.

Kerry, wearing a Red Sox (search) cap as he bounded into a morning rally in Toledo, recalled someone phoning a radio show early in the campaign and saying, "John Kerry won't be president until the Red Sox win the World Series." He exclaimed, "Well, we're on our way!"

Not everybody felt that way. Boston pitcher Curt Schilling (search), interviewed on ABC's "Good Morning America," said, "Tell everybody to vote. And vote Bush next week."

Bush congratulated the team's owner and president by phone — and thanked Schilling for his support.

The president watched part of the final game Wednesday night as the Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, completing a four-game sweep to win their first World Series title since 1918, said spokesman Scott McClellan. "This is a long time coming and he shares in their excitement at winning the World Series," McClellan said.

Kerry said, "I've been rooting for this day since I was a kid. ... This Red Sox team came back against all odds and showed America what heart is. In 2004, the Red Sox are America's team."
Oh my... 8O Say it ain't so, Curt!

Oh yea, I forgot... Most of this team isn't from Massachusettes. Hell, nearly half the team doesn't speak English as a first language.

Apparently with Springstein on the campaign trail with Kerry, Schilling decided he's going to appear with Bush in New Hampshire.

Oh blah dee, oh blah dah, life goes oooooon RAH!

A word from the other Bill.
Bill Buckner says there's no reason to forgive him

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Bill Buckner hopes the Boston Red Sox's first championship in 86 years ends the animosity aimed at him ever since his blunder in the 1986 World Series.

"They're a fun team to watch and a good bunch of guys, and they certainly deserved to win the World Series this year," Buckner told Sporting News Radio yesterday.

Buckner's error on Mookie Wilson's grounder down the first-base line in 1986 against the Mets, which gave New York a victory in Game 6, became a symbol of the team's post-season failures.

"This whole thing about being forgiven and clearing my name, you know, I mean ... cleared from what? What did I do wrong? It's almost like being in prison for 30 years and then they come up with a DNA test to prove that you weren't guilty."
