Favriote fighting game series ruined: Tekken movie trailer.

Post by AAAhmed46 »

I had such high hopes, but this trailer leaves me speechless in my disgust and sadness.

Why why why why why why why RUIN MY FAVORITE GAME SERIES!?!?!?!?!

It looks like a B rated film. This could have been real good.

But hey cung le comes in as marshall law and Miguel shows up in the form of Roger Huerta i think.

Can't be any worse than the street fighter movies.

THe animated movies were good for street fighter. The animated tekken movie was garbage.

Maybe with enough stunning failures, they'll stop making movies based on video games?

I'm trying to be optimistic.

The success of resident evil, tomb raider along with the increasing mainstream interest in video games probably ensures there will be more video-game spinoff movies.

The thing is though, they dont even try. Some of these games like metal gear has potential to be amazing(metal gear has an amazing story line) The themes of society and soldiers, violence and media; freedom vs conformity, heavy character development are all in the game....

But in hollywood they will probably mess up like always.

Street fighter isnt exactly the most sophisticated story, they could have EASILY made it good.

But they didn't.

Ryu and Ken are the main charecters, with Akuma as one of the main antagonist with Guile as a SECONDARY charecter. But noooo they had to make him the lead charecter and have the story revolve around him.
The fire balls and chi powers were a big thing in the game. Not one trace of it, or any mysticism. It turned into a really wierd action movie and not a martial arts one.

chun li'ss big thing was bison and shadow law yes, but also with Gen and Yun and Yang, a big kung-fu connection.

Yet "Street fighter: The legend of chun-li" was the most non-sensical thing ever. Worst movie ever, worse then the first movie.

Oh and lets look at final fantasy. Yes every final fantasy game is in a new world with different characters, but doing that with a movie would make it connected with the series only by name.

Should have made a final fantasy 7 movie or at the very least had a chocobo or two show up.

They could do so much but don't, they never do.

Did i also mention how they made jin look like a pussy? Get an actor with more muscle mass and a longer face?
And he is a karateka not a chunner, its actually very specific to his character.

Anywhoo, who bets they will totally ruin metal gear despite the fact that the DAMN GAME IS LIKE A MOVIE?

Anyway here is a trailer to give an idea about the fourth game.

To explain the whole series would take too damn long.

The metal gear creator loved escape from new york as you can see. Oh kojima.

Whoa.... that's some heavy lifting for a one-shot slam-bam fighting video game makeover. And who plays Tekken for social commentary?

Hey, in my opinion, Tomb Raider actually did turn out to be a good movie. The first one, anyway. Contrast that to the rest of them.

Same here. I either watched them when they came out on DVD at friends houses or interwebz. Watched Tomb Raider 3 years after it came out on DVD.

I have a guilty confession: I may actually spend money on the tekken movie simply because i like the game series....although im sure this movie will be atrocious. Bad writing combined Take six games worth of story line and charecters that are mangling it into one. It cant be good.

But hey, with my expectations so low it may surprise me.

Here's my theory: you're encouraging them to make crap movies, because they 'know' people like you who like the game will go see the movie, regardless of whether it's crap or not.

Stop playing their game, and stick to the video games, if that's your thing.

Books make good movies 50% of the time.
Movies make okay books.
Video games make crappy books and worse movies.
Movies make only so-so video games, until you start getting spin-offs.

Im probably a rare breed though. And i didnt go out to the theater for street fighter, and i love street fighter, the comic is good. Maybe im just speculating and wont go through with it. I didnt for street fighter. Cash is getting more valueble these days.

Thing is, the movies don't HAVE to be bad. But for some reason, they always end up being crap.

Games make better as comics or tv series rather then movies.

Here is the thing though:

What is it the japanese are doing that hollywood is not when it comes to adapting video games?

While not the best stuff out there, the street fighter anime has carved out a decent niche for it self. Yet in the U.S. when they made a cartoon of it they dumbed it down to the point of hilarity.

While the Tekken anime sucked, it was miles ahead of whats in the tekken movie, and thats just based on the trailer.
