Little guy has special place in my heart

Post by Bill Glasheen »

I skipped my last year of high school because I got an offer to go to college early. So in my freshman year, I was running cross country, was about six foot, and weighed all of 145 pounds. I didn't know ANY martial arts yet.

I remember bringing a date into a gymnasium where a band was playing. Some guys from the varsity basketball team were lined up in a hall leading to where the band was playing. They had been drinking. The captain of the basketball team reached down and grabbed my date's butt - making her screech and jump about half a foot.

Keep Your Hands Off My Mama and My Doritos

There was a little bit of this guy in me. To start, I grew up in what rapidly became a black neighborhood. Where I grew up, you could start a fight by simply uttering "Your mama!" That's all it took. This is the way young boys felt about their mothers.

The power of righteous indignation is something you don't want to mess with.
Righteous indignation is typically a reactive emotion of anger over perceived mistreatment, insult, or malice. It is akin to what is called the sense of injustice. In some Christian doctrines, righteous indignation is considered the only form of anger which is not sinful, e.g., when Jesus drove the money lenders out of the temple.
Back to the gym... "He" came out. "He" grabbed this jock right in front of all his fellow players, and slammed him against the wall. All his friends laughed. Not one of them interfered.

I really wasn't a player in what transpired. I was a witness going along for the ride. If you've never been there...

I like this little guy. And for those of you who've never grown up in similar circumstances, don't think a little guy won't be stupid enough to act when all odds are against him. This ad - while terminally cute - isn't far from reality.

I liked it. I liked the Dodge Charger commercial, too.

I hope this company gets back on its feet. They sure do make exciting cars.

FWIW... I can't identify. I'm the force to be reckoned with in my home. The wife is good at some things in life. Domestic stewardship isn't one of them.

What really cracks me up, or irks me by turns, is the background noise going on about how 'misogynist' the commercials were this year.

Please. All year long we're subjected to one goofy, incompetent male figure after another rescued by super-mom/super-doc, or used and abused by super-model/super-doc. There was one beer commercial that played off that trend well, with the woman who finds the radio and thinks she can get it working, but everyone else is quite satisfied with their impromptu island getaway.

One game out of the year, the pin gets turned on its head, and the complaints come out of the woodwork?

Get used to it, my friend. You aren't a protected class.

One need not go far to see stereotypes turned on their head in my world. But what the heck... I can always play the dumb brunette to my advantage. If my sisters can get away with it (i.e. dumb like a fox), so can I. 8)

Something so basic affecting any and all people, is many times 'glossed over' when it happens to someone else, and the people, who should take action in reprimanding the perpetrator, don't do it, for self serving reasons, alleging 'thin skin' on the part of the insulted party.

I know you know what I am talking about.

Yes that was the only entertaining thing of the whole Stuperbowl. The Little guy wins! The rest of the commericals truely sucked. I am not much on tv football anyway. It is not the same unless you are physically there at the game.
