The women who attended the SummerFest 2001 camp at the Massachusetts Maratime Academy are some of the finast martial artists I have ever met.
This year, I was a first time presenter.
It was a pleasure for me to teach such wonderful and extreemly talented martial artists who's dedication to the training that they received were way beyond being courteous.
I had the pleasure of meeting and presenting a seminar to Dana and her friend Heather. Dana has awesome power in her movements. I am greatful that you attended my class. I hope to see you again at next year's 20th anniversary class.
Christin, one of my instructors at the BUKA, was also in attendance for my first ever seminar class. I am pleased that she chose my class over ALL the other immensly talented presenters. Because I have the privelege to teach her at the BUKA, I was mighty surprised to have her join me.
Mary S and Maria S were also in attendance at the TC class that I held. Mary is no stranger to the TC principle as she has taken a few lessons from Van in Canada when he visited and also at the BUKA after last year's Summer Camp. Mary demonstrated a very powerful Seisan for the group. She gets better everytime I see her. Maria was awesome also. Her reputation is widely known and she is one very powerful karateka. I watched her drills when she was attending Bob Bethoneys Sparring Class and it was amazing to see her fluid movements and powerful kicks while not telegraphing even slightly. I do not know if she knows this but, she has captured the TC principle faster than any other I have ever seen. I forgot to ask her if she practiced some previous power drills in the past. If she remembers the TC principle that I showed her and practices it dilligently, she will also knock out opponents with her punches as well as her devistating round house kicks.
Then there was Katy who also attended my first class. I met this young green belt, who studies at Vinny Christiano's dojo at Brandeis, at the last NE Regional workout. She is a very tough practitioner who, I am sorry to say, was an unfortunate uke when I demonstrated an uncontrolled one-two puch to her nose. She was stunned, to say the least, and I felt like crawling under the grass. She continued the class and training as though it never happened.
Lori M-D, Lisa D, Susan D, Rose, Jayne, Vickie, Margaret, Sara. Were all in attendance at this year's camp as were a few others who's names I do not know. The Uechi-ryu community is proud to have such talented women who are an inspiration to women everywhere.
I will try to model the women students of the BUKA after these women who attended this years summercamp. They will have a long way to go to meet such high standards.

Len,
It was great to meet you and join in your class. I hope you get to present next year as well. Your enthusiasm and spirit in your teaching is engergizing! And the TC concepts will be fun to explore in training.
I look forward to training with you again - hopefully before next year if I ever get an excuse to visit boston.
cheers,
Dana

we were just wondering out loud at the Buka TC class last Monday, as to why TC is drawing so many women lately.
Christine, a strong shodan, did agree that women see the power and find that they want a "piece of it"!
We have a white belt at Brandeis, Myra, who after three months of TC, would give the average shodan a run for her money.
Tommy sensei said at his seminar at the Hut on Saturday, that we should make an effort to get TC power to the young generations of students. The women of Uechi seem to be better candidates than men.
