Gene
I stand by my criticism of Kerry first for standing by the Bosox when they are doing well, and then calling Bosox fans dreamers. He's a fair-weathered fan. Kerry has a habit of backing down when the going gets tough.
And you continue to spew meaningless labels, which is fine. Again, not very Kerry-like. I thought you admired the man...
So you think I'm a Bosox virgin, eh? How many spring vacations have you spent in Winter Haven, Florida? How close have you gotten to the team members on a daily basis?
My dad was a sox fan since a kid when he spent his summers at Gardner Lake, CN and had nothing to do but listen to games on the radio. We listened to the Hartford, CN AM radio station every night there was a game on - in Hampton, VA. Then he got the sattelite dish when I went off to college, and watched them on the NESN.
My dad managed to get a press pass from the local radio station (WVEC) and so worked his way into the locker rooms and was able to do interviews. And I got to go along as a teenage kid.
I got to see "The Impossible Dream" team of 1967 up close and personal. We have pictures and photographs of many of them. Yastrzemski's autograph was the hardest to get. He wasn't a very fan-friendly player. There were the Conigliaros, Petrocelli, Scott, etc., etc. My second oldest sister has a picture standing with Cy Young award winning pitcher Jim Longborg. So close that they look like Barbie and Ken. (My sister was/is that good looking. She was Miss Longwood two years in a row.)
What, were you in diapers then?
Remember Pete Runnels? I do.
Remember Ted Williams? I do.
Sorry, Gene, the pissing contest does you no good.
The lamentable fact is that the Yankees have earned it more than the Bosox throughout major league history...lots of those times at the direct expense of the Sox. That is the history that Kerry is referring to.
Forget Kerry and his loser attitude. Last time I checked, Boston's playing the 2004 Yankees on Tuesday. Last time I checked, they won the head-to-head series this year.
Losers lament the irrelevant past. Winners make their futures. Why not root for a winner, like this years' Bosox?
Of course you can continue to whine, and make Scotty chuckle...
