Kate,

I'll tell you what you would have done had I not gone to the tourney...You would have kicked BUTT!

I hope you'll be coming to the dojo this summer for Day classes, i'm looking forward to working with you.

"Outstanding" is definitely a good description of Tony-san's performance! His scores from a multi-organizational board reflected this opinion unanimously!

His kata was awesome! Showing elements of explosive power I'd only seen before during Van Sensei's TC seminars - it's hard to make a concrete floor shake but Tony did a hell of a job!

And in areas of the test where Tony was matched with different partners - he was exemplary in demonstrating what IMHO is exactly what should be shown in a test, the ability to adapt to each opponent, show his own technique, yet push the partner to show theirs, all with control, target, power, and "give and take." There is nothing I dislike more than an unevenly matched pair "brawling" or succumbing to the adrenaline rush and losing control. Tony was matched with opponents of all sizes and ability, (we even called on him to do "double duty" as we had an uneven number of candidates) and not only did he show himself to be more than worthy of his rank, he managed to work so well with each partner that they were able to show their strengths as well. It was a far cry from the intense dude with the wild tatoos who came up to the dojo on his motorcycle when we were just opening up...

Tony-san is a serious credit to our style! I'm honored to know him.

Wow! I am blushing! Thanks Lori!

I would have posted Mine and Daves Kata (Dave pulled of a very fast and powerful Kanchin) but it didn't get caught on tape. The gentleman taping the test had a low battery and had to focus on highlights.

p.s. Lori, you really got to me on that post...I am very moved by it.. Image
Thanks for everything you've done for me!

Tony-San,
Congratulations! I've been wondering what the glow on beach side was about the last day or so, now I know.
